Ernesto M. Diaz is a Peruvian-born director raised in the United States whose work combines character-driven storytelling with the entertainment, emotion, and spectacle of genre filmmaking. Drawing on over 15 years of experience across narrative and commercial production, he combines the resourcefulness of independent cinema with the visual precision of high-end production to create emotionally engaging stories that blend drama, suspense, adventure, and imagination while exploring the choices that define us. Fluent in English and Spanish, with working knowledge of German, Ernesto has experience directing productions and collaborating with crews throughout the United States, Latin America, and Germany, bringing a cross-cultural perspective to both narrative and commercial storytelling.

Approach

Prior to directing full-time, Ernesto spent years working across multiple departments, including as a gaffer and cinematographer. That experience gave him a practical understanding of how every department contributes to the final story and continues to shape the way he communicates with cast and crew on set.

As a director, Ernesto places a strong emphasis on performance, preparation, and clarity of vision. Whether working with experienced actors, first-time talent, or non-actors, his goal is to create authentic moments that connect with audiences while balancing the creative and logistical demands of production.
